Jahaja, då var det dags för Five Finger Death Punch att släppa album nummer två i The Wrong Side Of Heaven and The Righteous Side Of Hell-serien. Med tanke på kvalitén på Volume 1, som undertecknad belönade med en generös 6:a, är förväntningarna väldigt låga. De som har en god kännedom av FFDP vet exakt vad som väntas, texter med budskap som behandlar ämnen såsom att du inte ska ta skit från någon och slå tillbaka. Det är även väldigt mycket amerikansk patriotism vilket kan vara ett av skälen till deras framgång i hemlandet, USA.
Det positiva med Volume 2 är att de har slopat gästframträdanden, vilket var ett stort minus med Volume 1, trots Max Cavalera.
Något som FFDP själv måste inse är att de inte är något balladband. När ska de skippa dessa emotionella låtar som inte alls passar in i deras repertoar? Jag tänker främst på första singeln Battle Born som handlar om hur bandet rest många tusen mil, varit i flera olika städer och skakat över en miljon händer. Den känns som en intetsägande biografi av bandet. Lyssna hellre på Turn The Page av Bob Seger eller Metallica.
Jag inte bara vill utan kräver att FFDP spänner sina muskler och tar fram den där tuffa attityden som kännetecknar dem, vilket tack och lov öppningsspåret Here To Die bjuder på. En aggressiv Ivan Moody skriker ut sin lyrik med en fin rytm till gitarrerna, precis som det ska vara. Under Here To Die och Wrecking Ball (inte förknippas med Miley Cyrus) visar FFDP sin fulla potential. Den sistnämnda lär få dig att sjunga med högt i refrängen. Tyvärr slutar det roliga här, FFDP försöker komma upp i samma nivå som tidigare verk men misslyckas fatalt vilket är synd och skam. Problemet med Volume 2 är att den låter som en parodi till tidigare verk. Det finns ingen variation, vare sig det kommer till budskapet i texterna eller till hur instrumenten spelas.
Jag vet att FFDP har potential nog till att skriva ett nytt album som ger oss en käftsmäll likt War Is The Answer. De är ett band som bör upplevas live då de verkligen spänner sina muskler. Det är synd att de inte kan applicera detta på sina album.
Bäst: Here To Die, Wrecking Ball och inga gästframträdanden.
Sämst: Har vi inte redan hört allt förut?

ALBUM: Five Finger Death Punch – The Wrong Side Of Heaven and The Righteous Side Of Hell, Volume 2
So it’s time for Five Finger Death Punch to release album number two in The Wrong Side Of Heaven and The Righteous Side Of Hell series. Given the quality of Volume 1 expectations are very low. Those who have a good knowledge of FFDP know exactly what is expected, texts with messages that deal with subjects such as you should not take crap from anyone and fight back. It also contains very much American patriotism which could be one reason for their success in their own homeland.
The positive thing with Volume 2 is that they don’t have any guest appearances, which was a big minus with Volume 1 despite Max Cavalera.
Something FFDP must realize is that they are not a ballad band. When will they skip all these emotional songs that don’t fit into their repertoire? I’m thinking primarily of the first single Battle Born which is about how the band has traveled many thousand miles, been in several different cities and shaken over a million hands. It feels like an insignificant biography of the band. You should rather listen to Turn The Page by Bob Seger or Metallica.
I not only want, I require that FFDP flexes their muscles and develop that tough attitude that characterises them, which thankfully opening track Here To Die offers. An aggressive Ivan Moody screaming out his lyrics with a nice rhythm to the guitars, just as it should be. During Here To Die and Wrecking Ball (not associated with Miley Cyrus) FFDP show their full potential. The latter will probably have you singing high in the chorus. Unfortunately the fun stops here. The problem with Volume 2 is that it sounds like a parody of earlier works. There is no variation whether it comes to the message of the lyrics or the way the instruments are played.
I know FFDP has potential enough to write a new album that gives us a punch in the face like War Is The Answer did. They are a band that should be experienced live where they really flex their muscles, too bad they can’t apply them on their albums .
Best: Here To Die, Wrecking Ball and no guest appearances.
Worst: Haven’t we already heard it all before?
