Black Spiders
”Copenhagen, you look like you’re ready to party, are you?” – frågar frontmannen Pete ”Spider” Spidy och får till svars ett rungande ”JA”, eller hur man nu säger det på danska från en publik som består av nästan 1000 personer. Alla som befinner sig på Amager Bio är redo att festa med Black Spiders och jag är säker på att det är en ömsesidig känsla.
Ända från den stund bandet äntrar scenen och kör igång Knock You Out tills de går av scenen igen lämnas ingen torr. Black Spiders är i konstant rörelse uppe på scenen, det känns lite som att de alla lider av kronisk rastlöshet, till och med trummisen ”Tiger” Si Atkinson har svårt att sitta ned och vid ett tillfälle reser han sig upp medan han ryter åt publiken, likt en tiger. Att bandet får med sig nästan varenda en i denna varma lokal är ingen underdrift, vare sig det gäller att sjunga med, klappa händerna eller bara upprepa vad Spider säger. Vid ett tillfälle vill Spider att varenda en inne på Amager Bio ska räcka finger åt bandet och skrika ”Fuck you Black Spiders” och ingen är sen med att lyda. Black Spiders har en skön självdistans.
Black Spiders må endast ha släppt två album, men har ändå en hel del hits som merparten av publiken sjunger med i, speciellt under KISS Tried To Kill Me och i Trouble. De avslutar spelningen på bästa sätt med What Good’s a Rock Without a Roll? och jag vill bara ha mer av Black Spiders. Blott 40 minuter räcker inte för att jag ska bli tillfredsställd, deras energi har smittats av sig på mig, med lite längre hår hade jag förmodligen irriterat människan bakom mig med mitt intensiva headbangande.
I överlag avskyr jag spindlar, men älskar Black Spiders. Jag hoppas verkligen inte det dröjer länge innan jag får se detta band live igen.
Bäst: KISS Tried To Kill Me och Trouble.
Sämst: Inget nämnvärt.

Airbourne
Jag befinner mig i fotodiket när introlåten till Terminator sätts igång – gåshuden är ett faktum. När detta mäktiga intro når sina sista toner äntrar bandet med en så kraftfull energi att det är svårt att stå still, självklart startar de med Ready To Rock, som jag härmed utnämner till nationallåt inom rockmusiken. Något är dock fel, frontmannen Joel O’Keeffe sjunger så venerna syns på halsen, men det sången hörs inte. Vilken tur då att publiken kan låten helt utantill. Det är en mäktig känsla att höra 1000 personer sjunga rakt emot en. Istället får Joel fokusera sig på att slänga sin kropp över hela scenen, spela sina grymma solon och flörta med publiken. Mikrofonproblemet fortsätter även i nästa låt Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast, sedan vaknar ljudteknikern upp under Girls In Black och äntligen får vi höra Joel’s sång. Under vissa delar av spelningen försvinner rösten och visst är volymen lite låg i överlag, men det är petitesser på en annars felfri spelning av Airbourne.
Under Girls In Black visar det sig att scenen är för liten för Joel som sätter sig på en roddares axlar och bärs ut till mitten av Amager Bio där han river av ett solo. Sittandes där i mitten, barbröstad, långhårig och svettig kan han liknas vid en hjälte som inför ett slag håller sin yxa högt upp mot skyn.
Det finns inget som heter lagom eller långsamt med Airbourne utan de fortsätter rocka på som om det inte finns någon morgondag.
När de intensivt och svettigt med alkohol i kroppen spelat de allra sista tonerna i Stand Up For Rock ’N’ Roll tackar Joel Köpenhamn för denna kväll och önskar oss en god natt. Publiken är inte nöjda utan vill ha mer och skriker efter Airbourne. Som sig bör får vi tre energirika extranummer.
Till ljudet av ett krigsalarm/siren kommer Airbourne ut på scenen igen och kör igång Live It Up. Nu finns det ingen i publiken som står still, alla dansar och pressar på mot kravallstaketet i hopp om att få röra vid Joel eller bara få känna hans svett mot sina fingrar. Joel tar fram en ölburk, en klassiker vid det här laget, och slår den likt en galning mot sitt huvud tills det börjar spruta åt alla håll och kanter.
Under Raise The Flag far Joel ut på äventyr igen, denna gången hamnar han på balkongen där han står vid sidan om några glatt leende människor och spelar solot. Finns det ingen ljusrigg man kan klättra i så får man nöja sig med närkontakt.
Som final får vi en bombastisk Runnin’ Wild där de även blandar in AC/DC’s TNT. Det går inte att önska mer från ett finalnummer.
Innan bandet går av scenen säger Joel att så länge Airbourne lever, så länge varenda en av de som befinner sig inne på Amager Bio denna kväll lever så kommer rocken att leva.
Om det hela vore ett ”spel” hade Airbourne inte överlevt mer än fem minuter ute i musikvärlden, men de lyckas övertyga och det finns ingen tvekan om att de tillägnat sitt liv till rock n’ roll, kvinnor och alkohol – vilket gör dem äkta.
Bäst: Spelglädjen och energin, i synnerhet hos Joel O’Keeffe, samt Ready To Rock, Black Dog Barking och Live It Up.
Sämst: Att det skulle dröja ända tills låt nummer tre innan man fick höra Joel’s sång.

LIVE: Airbourne + Black Spiders at Amager Bio – Copenhagen
Black Spiders
”Copenhagen, you look like you’re ready to party, are you? ” – Pete ”Spider” Spidy asks the audience and gets a big yelling ”YES” back from an audience of nearly 1,000 people. Anyone who is at Amager Bio is ready to party with Black Spiders and I’m sure it’s a mutual feeling.
Right from the moment the band enters the stage and kicks off Knock You Out until they go off stage again no one is left dry. Black Spiders are in constant motion on stage, it feels a bit like they all suffer from chronic restlessness and drummer ”Tiger” Si Atkinson has trouble sitting down, at one point he gets up while he roars at the audience, just like a tiger. The audience sings along, clap their hands and repeat what Spider says. At one point Spider wants every one inside Amager Bio to point fuck you at the band shouting ”Fuck you Black Spiders” and no one is late to obey. Black Spiders seems to be able to laugh at them selfs.
Black Spiders may have only released two albums but still has a lot of hits that most of the audience sings along to, especially during KISS Tried To Kill Me and the female-inspired song Trouble. They finish the show in the best of ways with What Good’s A Rock Without A Roll? and I just want more of Black Spiders. 40 minutes is not enough for me to be satisfied, their energy has infected me and with longer hair I would probably annoy everyone behind me with my intense headbanging.
In general I hate spiders but I love Black Spiders. I certainly hope it won’t be long before I get to see this band live again .
Best: KISS Tried To Kill Me and Trouble.
Worst: Nothing significant.

Airbourne
I find myself in the photo pit when the intro song for Terminator starts – the goose bumps are a fact. When this mighty song reaches its final tones the band enters the stage with such a powerful energy that it’s hard to stand still, of course they starts with Ready To Rock, which I hereby appoint to the national anthem of rock music. Something is wrong, frontman Joel O’Keeffe sings so hard that his veins are visible on his neck, but the song is not heard. Lucky the audience knows the lyric by heart. It’s a powerful feeling to hear 1,000 people singing straight at you. Instead Joel focuses on throwing his body all over the stage, playing awesome guitar and flirting with the audience. There is still problem with the microphone in the next song Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast, then the sound engineer wakes up during Girls In Black and finally we get to hear Joel’s voice. In some parts of the show his voice disappears cause of the microphone and the volume is a bit low in general, but it’s a small problem for an otherwise flawless gig from Airbourne.
It appears that the stage is too small for Joel during Girls In Black who sits on a roadies shoulders (rides a roadie!) and is carried out to the middle of Amager Bio in which he tears off a solo. Sitting there in the middle, bare-chested, long-haired and sweaty he may be likened to a hero before a battle throwing his ax high towards the sky.
There is no such thing as moderate or slow with Airbourne who keep on rocking like there’s no tomorrow.
When the intense and sweaty Stand Up For Rock ’N’ Roll is over, Joel thank’s Copenhagen this evening and wish us a good night. The audience want’s more and screams for more Airbourne. As it should be we get three energetic encores.
To the sound of a war alarm/siren Airbourne enters the stage again and plays Live It Up. Now there is no one in the audience who stands still, all dancing and presses against the fence hoping to touch Joel or just get to feel his sweat against their fingers. Joel pulls out a can of beer, nowadays this is a classic, and hit it like a madman against his head until it starts spraying all sides and edges.
During Raise The Flag Joel goes out on an adventure again, this time he ends up on the balcony where he stands besides some happy smiling people and plays his solo.
As a finale, we get a bombastic Runnin’ Wild, where they also mix in AC/DC’s TNT.
Before the band goes off stage Joel tells us that as long as Airbourne is alive, as long as the audience inside Amager Bio this evening is alive rock will continue to live.
Airbourne manages to convince us that there is no doubt that they dedicate their lives to rock n’ roll, women and alcohol – which makes them genuine.
Best: Their joy and energy, especially Joel O’Keeffe, and Ready To Rock, Black Dog Barking and Live It Up .
Worst: That it would take until song number three before we heard Joel’s song .
