Hur är det ens möjligt att ett coverband kan vara så djävulskt trovärdiga, äkta och helt enkelt världsbäst?
Detta är tredje gången som jag har äran att få se Brit Floyd – världens största tribute show till Pink Floyd. Både 2011 och 2012 visade de prov på att vara något av det bästa jag skådat live, någonsin. Frågan är, lyckas de för tredje året i rad göra årets spelning?
Brit Floyd är inte enbart medlemmarna på scen utan de är även publiken och den gigantiska backdropen där det projiceras bilder i samband med låtarna, samt den fantastiska ljusshowen som bara den är värd biljettpriset. Med andra ord har Brit Floyd en scenshow som skulle få många andra band att skämmas.
Det är fascinerande att höra hur publiken fyller Baltiska Hallen med glädjerop när backdropen projicerar bilder av de olika albumomslagen, speciellt The Dark Side Of The Moon. Vilket förekommer ofta mellan låtarna.
När klockan slår 19.30 släcks Baltiska Hallen ner och bandet äntrar scenen. En av de många strålkastarna kastar ljus över Carl Brunsdon som står där ensam med sin klarinet och bjuder oss på en vacker melodi, sedan helt utan förvarning slås alla strålkastare på och bandet kör igång första låten In The Flesh? Det är som det ska vara, storslaget och magnifikt, men även väldigt genomtänkt från första till sista ton. De fortsätter med The Thin Ice, men det är inte förrän nästa låt, Another Brick In The Wall Part 1 som publiken börjar röra på sig i sina stolar, förmodligen sitter de ner och dansar.
Ljuset släcks ner och ljudet av helikoptrar fyller Baltiska Hallen samtidigt som strålkastarna söker runt i publiken. Det är inte svårt att räkna ut att det är dags för The Happiest Days Of Our Lives, som sedan går in i mästerverket Another Brick In The Wall Part 2. Gåshud, en grym känsla och en härlig stämning gör att jag inte skulle vilja befinna mig någon annanstans än just här och nu. Självklart blir det allsång.
Första akten av konserten är helt fantastisk och vi bjuds på låtar som Mother, Welcome To The Machine, Money, Eclipse med flera innan det blir en 20-minuters bensträckare.
Andra akten känns inte lika välgenomtänkt som första, i synnerhet då de första 40-minuterna består av lugna låtar som inte riktigt gör ett minnesvärt intryck. Sedan säger frontmannen Damian Darlington det som vi alla vill höra, att bandet har kommit fram till den sista sektionen av akt två där de största låtarna av Pink Floyd kommer spelas.
Först ut har vi den fantastiska Time, The Great Gig In The Sky smeker våra öron tack vare den vackra Ola Bienkowska, vars röst är hög och säker, det går även upp för mig att låten speglar en kvinnas orgasm vilket jag aldrig tänk på tidigare.
Baltiska Hallen släcks återigen ner och den briljanta sologitarristen Bobby Harrison inleder de första tonerna i Wish You Were Here medan allt hår på min kropp reser sig mot taket. Jag spelar luftgitarr till låten samtidigt som jag sjunger med. Solot som Darlington bjuder på får mig att vilja hoppa högt upp i luften och skrika av glädje, springa runt och krama allt och alla, men istället sitter jag där på min stol med slutna ögon och bara njuter. Att de projicerar bilder av Pink Floyd på backdropen gör inte saken sämre.
Nu kommer vi till den där låten som alla kan sjunga med i, nämligen Comfortably Numb. Ännu en gång sluter jag mina ögon och kan nästan föreställa mig att det är Pink Floyd som står på scen och spelar, inte ett coverband. Så trovärdiga är Brit Floyd, de har verkligen tagit en stor låtskatt och gjort den till sin egen, men ändå bibehålla igenkänningsfaktorn. Det är även under denna sista sektion under andra halva akten som de visar att detta är ett av världens bästa liveband.
Vi bjuds på ett extranummer som består av Run Like Hell.
Så, har Brit Floyd gjort årets spelning? Både ja och nej, som jag skrev ovanför är de ett av världens bästa liveband, men första halvan i akt två var som ett sömnpiller vilket de faller lite på, men likväl är det omöjligt att gå ifrån en Brit Floyd spelning utan att vara upprymd av lycka. I synnerhet inte efter att Darlington säger att vi ses nästa år igen och jag ser inga problem med att göra Brit Floyd till en årlig tradition.
Bäst: Another Brick In The Wall Part 2, Comfortably Numb, ljusshowen och att de är världsbäst.
Sämst: Första halvan i akt två är ett sömnpiller.

LIVE: Brit Floyd at Baltiska Hallen – Malmö
How is it even possible that a tribute band can be so diabolically credible, authentic and simply best in the world?
This is the third time I have the honor to see Brit Floyd – the world’s biggest tribute show to Pink Floyd. Both in 2011 and 2012 they proved themselves to be one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. The question is, will they manage to do a hat trick?
Brit Floyd is not only the members on the stage, but they are also the audience and the gigantic backdrop where there is projected images in connection with the songs, and the stunning light show is it self worth the ticket price. In other words, Brit Floyd has an stage show that would put many other bands to shame.
It is fascinating to hear how the audience fills Baltiska Hallen with joy when the backdrop projecting images of the different album covers, especially The Dark Side Of The Moon.
When the clock strikes 19:30 Baltiska Hallen goes dark and the band enters the stage. One of the many spotlights sheds light on Carl Brunsdon standing there alone with his clarinet playing a beautiful melody, then without warning all the lights turns on and the band starts the first song – In The Flesh?. As it should be, grand and magnificent, but also very well thought through from start to finish. They continue with The Thin Ice, but it is not until the next song, Another Brick In The Wall Part 1 as the audience starts to move in their chairs, probably they are all dancing while sitting down.
The lights go down and the sound of helicopters fills Baltiska Hallen while the spotlights are searching around in the audience like a flashlight. It’s not hard to figure out that it’s time for The Happiest Days Of Our Lives, which then goes into the masterpiece Another Brick In The Wall Part 2. Goosebumps, an awesome feeling and a great atmosphere means that I would not want to find myself anywhere else than right here and now.
The first act of the concert is absolutely stunning and we are treated with songs like Mother, Welcome To The Machine, Money, Eclipse and others before it’s time for a 20 minute pause.
The second act does not feel as well thought as the first, especially when the first 40 minutes consists of only mellow songs that I’m not as familiar with. Then, the frontman Damian Darlington says what we all want to hear, that the band has come to the last section of the second act where the greatest songs of Pink Floyd will be played.
First out is the amazing Time, The Great Gig In The Sky caresses our ears, thanks to the lovely Ola Bienkowska, whose voice is bright and spot on. It’s also clear to me that the song reflects a woman’s orgasm, which I’ve never thought about before.
Once again the lights goes down and the brilliant solo guitarist Bobby Harrison begins the first notes of Wish You Were Here while all the hair on my body reaches up towards the ceiling. I play air guitar while I sing along to the song. The solo from Darlington makes me wanna jump high up in the air and shout out of joy, run around and hug everyone and everything but instead I’m sitting there in my chair with my eyes closed and just enjoy. Projected images of Pink Floyd on the backdrop makes me open them and everything is just perfect.
Now we come to that song that everyone can sing along to, Comfortably Numb. Once again, I close my eyes and I can almost imagine that it’s Pink Floyd standing on stage playing, not a ”cover band”. Brit Floyd has some how taken a song treasure and made it into their own, but still maintain the recognition factor. It’s also during this last section in the second half of the act that they prove themselves to be one of the best live bands out there.
So, has Brit Floyd made this year’s best show? Yes and no, as I wrote above they are one of the best live bands but the first half of the second act was a little like a sleeping pill. Nevertheless, it’s impossible to walk away from a Brit Floyd show without being elated by happiness. Especially not after Darlington said that they’ll be back next year again and I see no problem in making Brit Floyd into an annual tradition.
Best: Another Brick In The Wall Part 2, Comfortably Numb, the light show and that they are the best in the world.
Worst: The first half of the second act is a little like a sleeping pill.
